Startup competition for HOGA: Innovations for hotels and restaurants sought

The HOGA trade fair is looking for innovative ideas that will enrich the Bavarian hospitality industry. The deadline for the startup competition is August 31.

The HOGA startup competition seeks solutions for the modern hotel and restaurant industry, as well as innovations and trends in food and beverage. The trade fair takes place every two years at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center and is aimed at the hotel, restaurant, and catering industries. The best submissions will be evaluated by an expert jury led by Dagmar Wöhrl and will have the opportunity to present their ideas at the HOGA in Nuremberg from October 17 to 19, 2021.

Winners of the HOGA competition receive 2,000 euros

The three best gastronomy startups will each receive a 6-square-meter exhibition stand worth €1,500. The winners will also receive €2,000 in prize money. The first startup competition for HOGA 2019 was held by Munich startup Brewee The apparently no longer active company wanted to create complete product personalization for small breweries. They were supposed to be able to operate "quickly, efficiently, and economically" through the use of an IoT system, as one of the founders said after winning the award.

Anyone who wants to enrich the Bavarian hospitality industry with their ideas is welcome to participate. The organizer lists "restaurateurs, brewers, winemakers, food truck drivers, bakers, butchers, confectioners, bar owners, café owners, and caterers" as examples of applicants. The submitted product may still be in the prototype phase or already be available on the market.
