Flixbus expands to Brazil

Flixbus plans to launch in Brazil at the end of this year. The Munich-based company aims to be the first international long-distance bus operator in the country once it opens its long-distance bus market to competition.

Brazil is liberalising its long-distance bus market and the Munich-based company Flixbus wants to establish a presence in the world's fifth largest country in terms of area as soon as the market opens up. green bus companies aims to build a nationwide network in Brazil together with its regional partners. According to a survey conducted by the company, around 60 percent of the population in Brazil already uses long-distance buses.

André Schwämmlein, co-founder and CEO of Flixbus parent company Flixmobility, says:

We hope that the remaining countries, such as Spain, Greece, and Romania, will follow Brazil's example and soon recognize the potential of market opening to attract more passengers to sustainable collective travel."

Flixbus serves 270 destinations in Germany again after the crisis

The company initially plans to connect the largest cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo and ultimately expand further to build a nationwide network.

Flixbus is already the market leader in Europe and, according to its own information, the second-largest supplier in the USA. Following the severe restrictions imposed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Flixbus is now offering its products again in Germany. 270 destinations – around three-quarters of the pre-crisis supply.
