Munevo wins Digital Top50 Award

Munevo has been honored with the Digital Top50 Award in the "Tech for Good" category. The Munich-based company, based in the MTZ, has developed a head-based control system for electric wheelchairs.

According to the organizers, the Digital Top50 Awards honor the achievements of Europe's best startups in the field of technology and digitalization. In addition to the "Tech for Good" award for Munevo, the "Best Technology" award goes to Keyless Technologies from London, the "Best Consumer Business Model Innovation" award goes to Dance from Berlin, and the "Best Enterprise Business Model Innovation" award goes to Trucksters from Madrid. A total of more than 360 companies applied for the awards. The awards will be presented at the next Bits & Pretzels trade fair, which will take place in Munich from September 25 to 27, 2022.

The winners receive support, advice and mentoring from the award partners as well as access to their network of executives and decision-makers from the industry.

Second award for Munevo in a short time

Munevo has developed a new type of control for people who, due to their condition, are unable to operate an electric wheelchair in the conventional way or are barely able to do so. Unlike the established and rather uncomfortable chin and head controls, Munevo Drive records head movements using data glasses that send the signals directly to the wheelchair's control system. This increases user comfort and also allows access to other systems, such as a smartphone or a robotic arm. The system can be easily connected to standard wheelchairs and adapted to individual mobility requirements.

The startup, based in Münchner Technologiezentrum (MTZ) by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection in the competition “Digital Startup of the Year 2021” was awarded second place. The Munich team secured 30,000 euros in prize money.
