Xpay expands management team with new CTO

The financial startup Xpay is expanding its management team with a CTO and bringing on board tech expert Thomas Lassmann. He will support the company in becoming a leading provider in the field of embedded finance.

The Munich-based startup Xpay, founded in 2016 by Denis Raskopoljac, provides companies with Mastercard cards for free, which they can pass on to their customers as part of a bonus program. Consumers receive various discounts and perks when shopping with the branded prepaid credit cards. In this way, the company aims to enable brands and influencers, for example, to intensify their customer and fan relationships.

With its offering, Xpay also won over several investors in early 2020. Among those investing in the company at the time were Apeiron Investment Group, Grey Study Capital, and Daniel Gutenberg, a Swiss citizen dubbed the "Unicorn Hunter." In total, this Series A 7 million euros for Xpay.

Thomas Lassmann becomes CTO of Xpay

As the startup has now announced, Thomas Lassmann has been responsible for, among other things, expanding the platform for connecting new customers and card programs as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since January. The tech expert brings extensive expertise in platform economics from previous positions. These include the RIO transport and logistics platform at Volkswagen and the car sharing offering from Wolfsburg-based Weshare. There, the business information technology specialist developed technical innovations in the car sharing model and implemented cloud services and AI solutions. At the financial startup Xpay, Lassmann will support the introduction of Domain Driven Design and the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) goal-setting method, as well as further develop the company's agile culture. Denis Raskopoljac, Co-Founder and CEO of Xpay, explains:

"Just as digital disruption in the mobility sector has changed perspectives and applications to the benefit of customers in recent years, digitalization can bring marketing and finance together in a new way. With Thomas, we're bringing on board an experienced tech expert to drive the transformation to a new approach to brands and financial products."
