Solve for Tomorrow: Sustainable ideas for urban environmental protection sought

Under the motto "Urban Environmental Protection," committed people with sustainable ideas can apply for the "Solve for Tomorrow" competition. The application deadline is June 29, 2022.

What can we do about noise and light pollution, and how can we avoid waste? What does a future-oriented energy supply look like? And how can urban mobility be designed intelligently? The "Solve for Tomorrow" competition, initiated by Samsung, seeks answers to precisely these questions. Under the motto "Urban Environmental Protection," the competition is seeking committed people up to the age of 25 with creative ideas. Together with coaches from science and business, the participants will be supported in designing a more environmentally friendly future for our cities using progressive ideas and technologies.

Knowledge, resources and mentoring

Peter Höhn, Manager Corporate Citizenship, Samsung Electronics, is certain:

"Young people are incredibly creative; they continually surprise me with completely new ways of thinking. It would be wasted potential if we didn't support them in finding answers to the pressing problems of our time. That's why we designed 'Solve for Tomorrow' so that a good idea is the most important prerequisite for applying. We offer design thinking workshops during the application phase, where interested parties are supported in submitting their idea for the competition. The program then supports selected teams in realizing their own idea: with knowledge, resources, and plenty of mentoring from our partner Ekipa, as well as external and Samsung experts."

Applications possible until June 29

Interested parties can submit their idea until Apply by June 29, 2022Ten teams will be selected and invited to a mentoring camp in early July. There, they will meet coaches from various disciplines and Samsung mentors. The two-day workshop will cover topics such as business model and product development and marketing. After a development phase lasting several weeks, five finalist teams will present their concepts on a large stage to a panel of experts. The winning teams will then receive financial support of between €5,000 and €10,000, as well as Samsung devices.

Three teams nominated by the jury will also be supported by Samsung for a further six months on their journey – ideally until they establish their own company or launch a pilot project.
