PlanB: “Pioneers” wanted

More sustainable, biogenic alternatives to fossil raw materials and energy sources – challenges that are more in focus than ever in light of the climate crisis, the global political situation, and resource scarcity. For the fifth time now, the startup competition "PlanB – Biobased.Business.Bavaria." is seeking startups and bio-entrepreneurs who have answers to these challenges and develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable, bio-based economy and society. Applications are open until August 7, 2022.

The current crises require new solutions to reduce the dependence and climate damage from fossil carbon sources for energy and industry. Competition PlanB is therefore seeking startups with "bio-innovators." Over 60 idea sketches were submitted in 2020, and the organizers hope for a similarly high number of submissions this year.

Applications now possible online

Business ideas and concepts can be submitted online in Phase 1 of the competition. A jury of experts will evaluate the submissions and provide feedback. Coaching and support formats will focus on knowledge, training, and networking starting in the fall. Submission of the PlanB Decks (Read Decks) will follow in Phase 2 of the competition in November.

Prizes totaling 25,000 euros

In February 2023, the final teams selected by the jury will have the chance to present themselves to an audience of business, politics, investors, and industry experts and deliver a convincing pitch to win the competition. Prizes totaling €25,000, access to the PlanB ecosystem, and PlanBenefits with comprehensive startup support await.

Eligible to participate are concepts with a startup intent and already established startups (under 7 years old) with solutions for a more sustainable and bio-based economy. We are looking for approaches that can be classified as bioeconomy (material-chemical and/or energetic use of bio-based feedstocks).
