Freewaycamper was founded at the end of 2019 by Julia Blum and Nikolai Voitiouk-Blum. The Munich operate a platform where customers can rent vans, campervans, and motorhomes directly. The startup's network of rental stations has now grown to over 20 locations in Germany and six locations abroad. Freewaycamper users can also directly book campsites throughout Europe – the startup aims to reach the 1,000 campsite mark in a few weeks.

The current financing round of €30 million consists of both equity and debt. In addition to existing investors, such as the Flix founders, new investors are also participating in Freewaycamper. Rockaway Ventures from Prague leads the round as lead investor. And Bridge to Growth from Berlin is providing the startup with venture debt financing. For the coming year, the Freewaycamper team is preparing to expand into other European countries and further develop the partnership concept.
