DIN-Connect: Standards Institute supports climate projects

The German Institute for Standardization (DIN) supports startups and SMEs in developing ideas with potential for standardization. This year's DIN-Connect competition focuses on the topic of climate.

With the climate focus of the DIN-Connect competition, the standards institute aims to support Germany's transformation process towards a climate-neutral and sustainable economy and society. Examples of areas for submissions include: Circular Economy, artificial intelligence, hydrogen technology, property technology, city of the future and digital twin.

DIN-Connect supports companies in transferring their innovations into standardization and thus facilitates faster market access.

DIN-Connect offers funding of up to 10,000 euros

The aim of the funding is to create standards in the form of DIN SPECs or VDE SPECs. SPECs are quickly created standardizations that can later form the basis of a standard.

The funding period is a maximum of twelve months. Project ideas from startups and small and medium-sized enterprises are explicitly given preference. The funding amount is up to 10,000 euros.

Submissions are open until September 30, 2022. Selected applicants will present their ideas at a pitch event on November 10, 2022. The event will be held as a hybrid format: Participants can dial in digitally or—depending on the current COVID-19 regulations in November—attend in person in Berlin. The winning projects will then be announced on January 31, 2023, and will launch on March 1, 2023.

Further information and the opportunity to apply can be found on the website of the cooperation platform DIN One.
