Qbound offers an innovative solution for accessing applications, cloud services, and devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) that is designed to be more secure and user-friendly than traditional VPN and firewall systems. The startup uses blockchain and a concept called Software Defined Perimeter. Managing Director and co-founder explained exactly how this works. André Schweizer in an interview with Munich Startup so:
"In the past, walls were built around cities to secure them. To enter a city, there were city gates where only authorized persons were allowed access. In this analogy, cities represent organizations, and walls represent firewalls that enable a strict separation of internal and external networks. The city gates represent VPN connections that allow access to the internal network. If a fraudster managed to enter the city, for example, using a false identity, a Trojan horse, or a tunnel, they could move around relatively freely and wreak havoc throughout the city. [...] In the 'real world,' we replaced city walls with intelligent alarm systems on individual buildings. Our solution enables precisely this step in the 'digital world.' We ensure that only authorized people and devices securely access the right resources at the right time and for the right reasons."
