The social baking startup Kuchentratsch is saved. Following its acquisition by Höflinger Müller, cakes baked by grandmas and grandpas can once again be ordered online or picked up at Munich's Theresienhöhe. Startup is already looking for seniors who would like to help bake. The Kuchentratsch cakes will also be sold in some of the bakery chain's more than 140 branches. The founder Katharina Mayer says:
"The idea behind Kuchentratsch is entrepreneurial and social. For me, it's so much more than just a company that bakes cakes. Kuchentratsch is about seniors, about intergenerational togetherness. I'm very pleased that this vision will now be continued together with Höflinger Müller."
“Kuchentratsch is a heartwarming project from the idea to the implementation”
Franz Höflinger, Managing Director of Höflinger Müller is quoted as saying:
"Kuchentratsch is a heartwarming project from concept to implementation. The grandmas and grandpas in the bakery are unique and remind me of my own grandfather, from whom I learned the baking trade. And the grandma cakes are the perfect addition to our stores!"
Even before the insolvency, an “experience bakery” with a café and event space was planned at Theresienhöhe and successfully implemented by means of Crowdfunding Funded: The startup received a total of €234,200 from 157 investors, bringing the campaign to 234 percent. After a failed financing round caused the startup to slide into insolvency, the project initially came to nothing. Following the takeover, the café is now set to become a reality, and perhaps even more will follow, according to Höflinger:
“We can also imagine opening additional locations and cafés in prime locations.”
