Series A: 6 million euros for Ecog

The Munich-based e-mobility startup Ecog secured a €6 million Series A round just before the end of the year. In addition to new investors BayBG and Lindner Group, existing investors Ananda Impact Ventures and Helen Ventures are also participating in the financing round. Ecog develops software for fast-charging stations.

Since 2017, Ecog has been providing a software technology solution for charging station manufacturers. This enables the cost-effective development of fast charging stations – so-called DC charging stations – for electric vehicles. The charging technology and operating system solution Ecog | OS can be deployed modularly as a hardware-software or software-only solution. According to the company, 15 different manufacturers already rely on the Munich-based company's technology for more than 24 different charger series. With the new capital, the startup plans to advance its business in Europe and India and further expand its market presence in the USA.

“Market share of 30 percent in sight”

Jörg Heuer, CEO of the Munich startup, says:

"Ecog's success is built on the synergy of our ecosystem partners and the passion and drive of our global team from 14 nations. As thought leaders in the field of EV charging, we have charted a focused and successful path to profitability since our launch five years ago. Together with our partners, we are now eyeing a 30 percent market share and will return to our roots in Detroit in 2023 to continue shaping the North American market locally."

Andreas Heubl, Senior Investment Manager at BayBG, says:

"Within just a few years, Ecog has become the dominant operating system for DC charging stations and provides charging station manufacturers with an outstanding software technology solution. Ecog's renowned customers, strong ecosystem, and tremendous growth speak for themselves. Accordingly, we are delighted to be able to support Ecog as an investor in its international scaling."

“A high value contribution on a global level”

And Sven Matzelsberger from the Lindner Group, is certain:

"Ecog's journey so far is impressive, and we look forward to working with one of the leading manufacturers of an operating system on a very forward-looking application. Sustainability and resource conservation have always been a key focus for Lindner, and have been firmly anchored in the vision of "climate-neutral production" since 2008. The collaboration with Ecog therefore fits perfectly with our philosophy. We see Ecog as a company that will deliver significant value in the field of electromobility on a global level."
