The one from BioM coordinated and supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs Pre-start-up competition is seeking applicants for the current round until March 8. The winning teams of the M4 Award will each receive up to €500,000 over a two-year period to validate their approaches. In addition, the funded projects will receive support on their path to company formation.
The award recognizes research-based, yet application-oriented projects that serve the development and testing of innovative products and technologies in the field of medical biotechnology. Possible topics include:
- innovative active ingredients and therapies (including NCEs, biologicals, ATMPs, vaccines)
- innovative platform technologies in the field of prediction, prognostics or diagnostics in biotechnology (including approaches based on the application of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning)
- innovative platform technologies in the field of drug discovery and development (including approaches based on the application of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning)
- innovative approaches in the field of digital health in biotechnology (especially if there is potential for reimbursement by payers under the Digital Health Care Act (DVG))
M4 Award: Winners are selected in a two-stage process
Academic research teams working on an application-oriented project on the future of medicine can apply for the M4 Award until March 8. The project should have potential for a future spin-off. A five-page brief description of the spin-off project must be submitted with the application.
Teams that receive a recommendation for the second stage can then submit a 15-page outline by May 22. A jury of industry experts and investors will review the outlines and invite selected projects to present in July.
