Sustainability app Earnest launches business version

The app Earnest gives users tips for a more sustainable life. A business version of the app has now been released with the goal of making companies more sustainable.

The Earnest app is backed by Uptodate Ventures, which was founded in 2018 as Corporate spin-off The Earnest app for private individuals provides users with tips and challenges to reduce their own carbon footprint. According to the company, since its launch in 2020, the app has been downloaded more than 750,000 times and is "Germany's most relevant sustainability app." The app is said to have already saved 10,000 tons of CO2.

Earnest Business: “Making the workplace more sustainable”

The business version, Earnest Business, is designed to enable companies to implement their sustainability strategies with the help of their employees. Employees have access to a tips database in the app and can compete against each other in team challenges. By redeeming points, users can also support sustainable projects, such as planting a tree in the Amazon or fishing out plastic waste from the oceans. This is intended to save CO2 emissions, but also have several positive effects for companies: team spirit is expected to improve, motivation increases, and employee turnover decreases.

Martin Hilgers, CTO at Uptodate says:

"The pressure on companies to act is great: Legislators, customers, and employees are increasingly demanding verifiable sustainability. We are proud that with Earnest, companies and their employees now also have the opportunity to make their own workplaces more sustainable – and in doing so, make their contribution to sustainable transformation."
