'Open Call' for new interim use Fat Cat

Like a fat cat, the Gasteig towers over the city, waiting for renovation work to begin. Until then, however, the cultural center will be available for temporary use by Munich's creative and cultural scene until the end of the year. It even has a fitting name: Fat Cat. To ensure the cat on the hill can soon purr again, an ideas competition is currently being held seeking individuals, organizations, startups, and initiatives that need space, want to implement projects, or plan events.

The contract for the use of the vacant Gasteig building was awarded to the non-profit Fat Cat gGmbH, consisting of Nepomuk Scheßl (MünchenMusik), Michi Kern (Utopia Halle), Till Hofmann (Lustspielhaus) and Barbara Bergau (Bellevue di Monaco). To plan what exactly will be shown in the Fat Cat during the Interim use period There is currently a 'Call for Ideas' in which startups can also participate.

Offices, workshops or event rooms

The project is particularly aimed at sub- and socio-cultural projects, the off-theater scene, musicians, bands, dance ensembles, choirs, cultural organizers, restaurateurs, as well as social organizations and clubs. Companies and startups planning events or looking for office space are also welcome to apply. Halls of various sizes (from 30 to 2,400 people) are available, offering space for all kinds of events – from intimate plays to techno nights. There are also office and rehearsal spaces where people can work and exchange ideas, which can be set up as studios or workshops, or where musicians can rehearse.

In order to find and activate as many stakeholders as possible, the initiators call on all interested parties to participate. Anyone who would like to participate should contact directly to the Fat Cat team.
