LaMonachia: Munich Business Award for Women

The LaMonachia Business Award for Women is presented every two years to three winners. Nominations and applications are accepted until April 21. The awards ceremony will take place on July 11 at the Deutsches Theater.

With the LaMonachia Business Award The City of Munich honors successful female managers and entrepreneurs who have been successful in the market for at least three years. Potential award winners are economically successful, steer their company on a growth path, and demonstrate impressive innovation. The company must be headquartered in the City of Munich. The award will be presented for the third time, following 2018 and 2021.

The award winners will receive 3,000 euros, a certificate, and a piece of jewelry by Munich artist Carina Shoshtary, who created the lioness as a symbol for LaMonachia. The name LaMonachia refers to the allegory of female Munich, depicted in two large paintings in Munich City Hall.

LaMonachia: Top-class judges

An all-female jury selects the award winners. The judges include scientist and investor Ann-Kristin Achleitner and the owner of Hofpfisterei, Nicole Stocker. The jury's decision criteria are economic success, innovation, and commitment. The winners with the most compelling business success stories will receive the business award at a ceremony. Katrin Habenschaden, Second Mayor of the City of Munich, said at the 2021 awards ceremony:

"I am very pleased that, as a city, LaMonachia is a sign of appreciation for the outstanding entrepreneurial commitment of women here in Munich and can thus make their commitment even more visible."

Potential winners can be nominated by others or can nominate themselves. Further information and the opportunity to apply can be found here.
