Deepdrive is the “Best Munich Startup” 2023

The 7th Munich Startup Award was presented yesterday at the Munich Startup Festival. Deepdrive was named "Best Munich Startup." Vaeridion won the Audience Award.

Deepdrive is the winning team at the 7th Munich Startup Award. The jury had a difficult task choosing the winner. The startup beat more than 70 competitors and nine other selected Semi-finalists assert themselves in the pitches.

Deepdrive wins Munich Startup Award

Deepdrive offers revolutionary drivetrains for electric vehicles that allow a vehicle to travel 20 percent further or require 20 percent smaller batteries for the same range. The winning startup will receive the trophy and prize money of €5,000 and can now call itself "Munich Startup of the Year."

The Munich Startup Awards ceremony took place for the first time at the Munich Startup Festival, immediately following the final pitching round. Together with Gabriele Böhmer, Head of Munich Startup, Munich's Minister for Labor and Economic Affairs selected Clemens Baumgärtner this year's winning team and said:

"At the Munich Startup Festival, we celebrate Munich's successful tech ecosystem. Every single innovative solution from Munich startups counts and contributes to the future viability of our business location. The Munich Startup Award recognizes particularly outstanding achievements."

The winning team is very happy about the award. Vincent Berger, Business Development at Deep Drive, accepted the award and said:

"I'm incredibly happy about this award! Thank you to Munich Startup for giving Munich startups a platform with the festival. I also find it exciting to see that this topic is now receiving recognition at a high political level."

For the first time, there was also an Audience Award, endowed with €1,000. The prize went to Vaeridion. The Munich-based startup aims to accelerate the green transformation of aviation with a small electric aircraft. Ivor van Dartel, Co-founder and CEO of Vaeridion is glad:

"It's a great honor that we won the Audience Award at the first Munich Startup Festival. This underlines the strong support for our efforts to make travel, and especially flying, more sustainable."

The Munich Startup Award has been presented since 2016, so far at Bits & Pretzels. Previous winners include the pathology company Inveox, the shopping platform Catchys, the smart city company Cleverciti, Pixel Robotics with its perception-controlled robots for intralogistics, the autonomous mobility startup Pylot, as well as the sensor startup Hawa Dawa.
