Johannes Siebers of Holidu on the search for capital: “You can and should think big”

Holidu, the search engine for vacation rentals, recently successfully completed a Series A financing round, as Munich Startup already reported hereThe Munich-based startup secured a €5 million investment to pave the way for further growth and expand its business model. The round was led by EQT Ventures..

In an interview with deutsche-startups.de Holidu creator Johannes Siebers talks about team organization, discussions and time pressure.

You recently raised money in a funding round. What was the biggest challenge?
A financing round naturally takes a lot of time. It was important to us not to lose focus on the business during this time. Getting everything done requires working late into the night and becoming disciplined in self-organization and team management.

What criteria did you use to select your potential investors in advance?
We were looking for partners who wanted to build a sustainably scalable business model and, like us, had a focus on technology. It was also important to us that potential investors had experience and a broad network in the travel market so they could continue to support us even after the financing round. This allowed us to quickly enter into in-depth discussions and agree on key decisions in advance.

How did you come into contact with your current investors?
Contact with the investors was established through personal networks.
