The Circular City Challenge is entering its second year and invites startups, companies and organizations to tackle the crucial challenges that cities face on their way to circular transformation We are looking for innovative solutions in every development phase – from early conceptual ideas and prototypes to new companies, project consortia, and service providers.
The Circular City Challenge is organized by Circular Berlin, Circular Munich, MaterialKreislauf, Circonnact, Circular Black Forest, Fab City Hamburg, and Creative Climate Cities. To turn the vision of a circular economy into reality, the organizers have partnered with the cities of Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, and Vienna, as well as the municipalities of Zeuthen Ringsheim and the district of Lippe. The common goal is to address key challenges in logistics and mobility, energy, nutrition, industry and trade, events and gastronomy, as well as waste management and consumption. Accordingly, the competition jury consists of representatives from city and district administrations as well as municipal companies.
Startups and founders who wish to apply can do so via an online form. All participants whose solutions make it to the finals benefit from increased visibility and reach within the network and are directly connected with city and municipal partners to further collaborate on the implementation of their solution. They also receive funding through various incubator and accelerator programs.
To ensure that everyone interested can best prepare for the competition, a dedicated online information event will take place on September 14 at 6:30 p.m. In addition to providing all the information about the application process, the organizers will also present some examples of possible solutions and provide insights into the core concepts of the Circular City Challenge.
