Recup takes over reusable manufacturer Crafting Future

The two providers of reusable solutions, Recup and Crafting Future, have been collaborating for several years, for example in the development of the Rebowl reusable bowls. Now, Crafting Future is becoming a subsidiary of Recup.

Recup operates a reusable system for the out-of-home market, in which, according to the company, around 21,000 restaurants in Germany participate. Since its founding in 2016, the Munich startup The vision of creating a circular ecosystem to avoid single-use packaging. The Hanover-based startup Crafting Future, in turn, has made a name for itself as a developer and producer of measurably sustainable reusable containers. These include the Rebowls introduced by Recup in 2020. With these, the Munich-based company expanded its business from coffee-to-go to the food sector.

With this merger, the two companies are combining their respective expertise. They aim to offer the best possible service in the reusable market, which has been transformed by the mandatory reusable offering, packaging tax, and new regulations in the European Packaging Law (PPWR), and to create a “Standard for reusable” establish.

Recup wants to be a “trailblazer of reusable packaging”

“We want to continue to be pioneers and trailblazers of reusable packaging and show that thinking in ecological and closed cycles and strong partnerships are the future in the market,”

says Recup founder Fabian Eckert about the merger.

“We know that the problem of single-use packaging cannot be solved alone, and we are pleased to further expand our existing partnership, to jointly serve the entire reusable value chain and thus make reusable packaging the standard in the long term,”

Recup successfully raised €12 million from investors last year. In addition to its then-shareholder Müller Medien, the Blueworld Group, Summiteer, and GLS Bank also participated in the round.
