The Medical Valley Award is an initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy and is aimed at academic research projects with spin-off potential in an early project phase, as well as pre-start-up projects. The award has been presented four times to date, and a total of 30 research projects have been funded. The application phase for the next round of the Medical Valley Award is currently underway. Applications can be submitted until April 7, 2024.
Bavarian research teams from:
- Universities
- University hospitals
- non-university research institutions
- Universities of applied sciences
The following research areas are given particular attention:
- innovative imaging diagnostics
- novel concepts for and with integrated sensors
- Technologies to support health and prevention
- innovative platform technologies in the field of prediction, prognostics and diagnostics
- innovative medical technology or medical informatics-based therapy and rehabilitation formats
- innovative approaches in Digital Health
- digitally supported concepts for integrated care,
Robotics & Human-Machine Interface Solutions in Healthcare
The submitted projects should meet the following general conditions
- A technically and scientifically particularly sophisticated and innovative product or process idea exists
- The project must involve significant but calculable technical and scientific risks
- A clear intention on the part of the team to commercialize the concept must be sought
- The establishment of a company or the commencement of business activities must not yet have taken place
- positive intellectual property rights situation
- Connectivity at the end of the funding period
