EIT Urban Mobility is looking for startups with expansion plans

Startups with innovative urban mobility solutions can apply for the EIT Urban Mobility SME Market Expansion Call until February 19. The program supports them in developing a new solution for existing customers or testing existing solutions in a new industry or market.

The SME Market Expansion Call aims to support projects in one of three areas: mobility and energy, sustainable urban logistics, and mobility of the future. The mobility and energy segment focuses primarily on the use of electromobility and the associated challenges for a suitable charging infrastructure. However, alternative drive technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen combustion, and biogas are also considered.

Sustainable urban logistics is understood by EIT Urban Mobility Solutions such as new vehicles for delivery traffic, modern procurement/purchasing models and production models, software solutions for optimizing freight transport, and solutions for loading/unloading management. And the area of mobility of the future covers services such as mobility-as-a-service (MaaS), shared micromobility services, autonomous driving, and urban air mobility.

Enter into partnerships more easily with the Market Expansion Call

The goal of the Market Expansion Call is to enable startups to collaborate with companies and, above all, municipal administrations. The latter, in particular, often require extensive tenders, in which startups rarely prevail over established providers. However, the program can circumvent this obstacle. Therefore, a letter of intent from the potential end customer is required for the application. Furthermore, participating startups can expect financial support of €59,500 for the six-month project period.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as defined by the European Commission, which specifically includes startups, are eligible to apply. Furthermore, applying companies must be less than ten years old and have at least three full-time employees. Furthermore, their headquarters must be located in an EU Member State or a country associated with the Horizon Europe program. The application deadline is February 19 at 5:00 PM Central European Time.
