Expansion: Recup launches in Austria

Recup will also be available in Austria in the future. The provider of reusable systems is now expanding its operations to the neighboring country. Both restaurants and end consumers will then be able to access the Munich-based company's solution.

Recup/Rebowl is taking the step across national borders. Founded in 2016, the company claims to already be found in over 20,000 partner restaurants in Germany. And now also in Austria.

Ready for change with Recup

Fabian Eckert, founder and managing director of Recup, explains:

"The problem of single-use waste exists far beyond Germany. Over the past seven years, we have been able to gain experience in solving this problem, optimize reusable products, demonstrate that a nationwide return and return network works, and identify the opportunities that reusable packaging offers for the hospitality industry, end consumers, and the environment. We firmly believe that Austria is ready for change in the area of to-go packaging."

To mark the introduction of the system in Austria, a special Recup reusable cup was dedicated to the Austrian capital, Vienna. It features the skyline with St. Stephen's Cathedral, the Burgtheater, and other Viennese landmarks.

First partner in Austria

Recup is the first partner in the introduction of the reusable system for to-go packaging in Austria Denns BioMarkt to the side. Since April 1, customers at the 35 Denns BioMarkt stores across Austria have been able to take home drinks to go in a Recup reusable cup for a one-euro deposit, and lunch dishes in a Rebowl reusable bowl for a five-euro deposit. The cups and bowls can then be returned to all Denns BioMarkt stores in Austria or participating restaurants in Germany.

Partner companies in Germany include Burger King, Bio Company, Shell, Ikea, Aral, and Alnatura, as well as chain restaurants, bakeries, and many owner-operated cafés and restaurants. All cafés, restaurants, bakeries, kiosks, canteens, and gas stations participating in the Recup and Rebowl reusable systems can be viewed here.
