The space startup DeltaVision has raised 10.2 million euros in its first financing round. The company develops fluid systems for launch vehicles, satellites, lunar landers, and orbital service vehicles. With the fresh capital, DeltaVision plans to ramp up its production and accelerate the development of technologies for in-orbit spacecraft refueling.

The financing round is led by KT Ventures and Valemount Capital, who are expanding their commitment following an earlier convertible loan. In addition, Futury Capital and several private investors are participating through a dedicated investment vehicle. According to the company, the decision was deliberately made in favor of investors with industrial and commercial expertise.

DeltaVision was founded in 2022 and, according to the company, has been profitable since its inception. The company now employs 125 people and manufactures in a former Siemens plant in central Munich. With the new capital, DeltaVision is increasing its production capacity for valves and other propulsion components to 5,000 units per year to meet growing demand.

DeltaVision focuses on in-orbit refueling

The startup’s products perform key tasks in transporting liquids, fuels, and pressurized gases in spacecraft. Customers include more than 60 companies and organizations across four continents – ranging from startups to established space companies and space agencies. DeltaVision is also involved in the European lunar lander project Argonaut, supplying components for pressure regulation.

In the long term, the company is pursuing the goal of building an open technology ecosystem for in-orbit refueling. To achieve this, DeltaVision is developing fluid couplings, utility interfaces, and integrated refueling modules that make spacecraft serviceable and enable the transfer of fuel in space.

Alex Plebuch, CEO and co-founder of DeltaVision, says:

“We are fully committed to delivering products at an industrial scale. That is precisely what the market demands.”

He further explains:

“We are striving for an open and interoperable ecosystem for in-orbit services, rather than pursuing an approach where a single player claims the entire market for themselves. An interoperable ecosystem will significantly increase the overall market volume and thus benefit all participants. DeltaVision is developing the technology to connect spacecraft in orbit and perform the transfer of fuel and fluids.”

Johannes Pichler from KT Ventures, one of the investors in this financing round, adds:

“We are not investing in a promise – we are investing in a profitable business model with enormous tailwinds and international growth opportunities.”

Alex Plebuch in a Video Interview

In an interview with Munich Startup, Plebuch discusses the role Munich plays in the international space race and the do’s & don’ts founders should keep in mind on their way to a successful startup. We recorded the conversation last week at the Munich Startup Festival.
