The Tübingen Medical Innovations Incubator specializes in supporting innovators in the fields of medical technology, diagnostics, and digital health. With support from Start-Up BW of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economics, the B. Braun Foundation, and the Hector Foundation, the incubator is organizing the 4C Accelerator for the ninth time.
This program focuses on supporting early-stage projects aimed at developing innovative medical technologies. The name “4C” stands for the four key requirements that medtech startups face on their path to market.
- Commercialization: How do I generate revenue in healthcare?
- Certification: How do I obtain approval for my product and company?
- Clinical Studies: How do I provide the necessary evidence through clinical data collection?
- Copyright: How can I leverage data and intellectual property rights to my advantage?
How is the 4C Accelerator structured?
The program offers intensive support from experts, workshops, networking opportunities, and access to resources and partners from the healthcare industry.
- Part 1: Workshops conducted by the Foundation for Medical Innovations
During 15 interactive workshops, founders gain a deep understanding of the 4C subject areas and are trained in the “4C Business Modelling” methodology.
- Part 2: Coaching from the Medical Innovations Incubator
Startups that successfully complete the workshops then receive six months of individual coaching. The coaches support the practical implementation of milestones.
Who can participate?
The program is open to all national and international founding teams and innovators who want to implement their product ideas in the following areas:
- Medical devices (equipment, instruments, machines, implants)
- Software as medical devices
- In vitro diagnostics (laboratory tests, laboratory procedures, software)
Individuals and teams can apply for the 4C Accelerator on the Medical Innovation Incubator website until January 17, 2025. All applicants will receive feedback on their applications by March 3, 2025. Following this, a shortlist kickoff workshop will take place, where the final eight teams will be selected. The 4C workshops will then start in April 2025.
