The path from an innovative medical technology idea to market entry is often significantly more complex than in other industries. In addition to developing a viable business model, founders must meet regulatory requirements, provide clinical evidence, and clarify questions about certification and intellectual property protection. This is exactly where the 4C Accelerator comes in, with its twelfth program round now entering the application phase.

Four pillars for successful market entry

The program focuses on so-called 4C Business Modelling. It combines the areas of Commercialization, Certification, Clinical Studies, and Copyright to integrate regulatory requirements into company strategy at an early stage. The goal is to prepare medtech startups for investors, approval procedures, and the subsequent commercialization of their products.

Workshops and six months of coaching

The program is divided into two phases. First, the selected teams complete 15 interactive online workshops conducted by experts from the medical technology field. This is followed by six months of individual coaching with experienced consultants from the Medical Innovations Incubator.

The actual program is preceded by a multi-stage selection process: After the application deadline, an expert panel evaluates the submitted ideas. Twelve teams are invited to a kick-off in Tübingen before finally eight startups are admitted to the accelerator.

More than 620 applications since 2021

According to the organizers, a total of 622 applications for the 4C Accelerator have been received since 2021. During this period, 92 startups were supported. Furthermore, the network now includes 1,278 members, while the exclusive 4C Community has grown to 295 members.

You can apply here until August 3.
