WomenTechEU is part of the “European Innovation Ecosystems” work programme of “Horizon Europe” and supports female-founded startups with an individual grant of €75,000. Additionally, all female founders are offered mentoring and coaching as well as special networking opportunities throughout the EU as part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) “Women Leadership” program.
For the second round of the program, a total of 467 startups from 35 countries applied. In addition to EU member states, Horizon Europe programs are also open to associated countries such as Israel, Norway, and Turkey. Ultimately, 134 female founders with their startups from 26 countries were selected.
The winners also include 7 startups from Munich: Accu:rate, Curevision, Engineering Minds Munich, iComplai, Kasuria, Koralo, and Nebumind. Kerstin von Diemar, co-founder and managing director of Curevision, says:
“We are very proud to have been selected for this funding. It motivates us to continue advancing the use of artificial intelligence in medicine, specifically in the treatment of chronic wounds. Personally, I find it fantastic that almost half of Germany’s deeptech startups in the program are from Munich. This is wonderful confirmation of the intensive work of everyone who is committed to tech startups in the Munich ecosystem, and we at Curevision owe them a great deal.”
“We’ve taken a step closer to our goal”
“Our mission to promote a healthier life for consumers is supported by the EU, which means we’ve taken a step closer to our goal. When we started with Corona, we had to overcome some challenges. But we worked hard and managed to win the trust of industry leaders. This trust and recognition are now elevated to a new level by the WomenTech EU Award from the European Commission. I’m very proud of that,”
says Asli Solmaz-Kaiser, CEO and founder of iComplai. And she continues:
“Diversity has many faces. Women in the technology industry are one of them. We are happy to be one of the lights burning to show the world that the world can change and that it is not one-sided. Anyone can be successful, regardless of ethnicity, background, or gender. Belief in your own mission is key.”
