The Kinoliebe Summer Festival also served as a stage for the Munich startup ecosystem this year. Munich Startup was on site with a live edition of its Pitch & People podcast and brought together founders, visitors, and startup enthusiasts.
The opening featured a live podcast episode with Marlena Hien. The co-founder of Bears with Benefits and one of Europe’s most successful founders spoke in brilliant sunshine about her personal founding story. Following that, five young companies took center stage: they presented their business models to the audience and jury in the pitch contest.
Five startups in the pitch contest
These startups competed against each other:
- 8pm Social
- Outfeed
- MietTiger
- Reset
- Qentin
Each team had the opportunity to present their business idea and business model. The focus was on degree of innovation, market potential, and pitch quality.
8pm convinces jury and audience
In the end, Saskia Teufel, founder of 8pm Social, prevailed against the competition. With the victory, she automatically qualifies for the Munich Startup Award, which will be presented on July 22 at Backstage.
There, 8pm Social will then compete alongside the two other nominees Pulsetrain and Jessyworks for the award, which comes with a prize of 10,000 euros.
