The EIT Food consortium, funded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, is the world’s largest innovation network in the agrifood sector. The EIT Food Seedbed program is currently seeking innovative technology solutions that want to contribute to the renewal of the food system, including agriculture. Teams with at least one member from the EU and non-EU countries in Europe are eligible to apply, with habitual residence being decisive.

Funding up to 10,000 euros

The program runs over six months. Participating teams receive support in market validation from established industry experts and mentors, as well as specially tailored qualification modules. The program is conducted online and includes two in-person events in Bilbao (kick-off) and the closing event in a European metropolis, which has yet to be determined.

Participants receive funding of up to 10,000 euros to cover market validation costs and travel expenses. They also gain access to the European network of EIT Food, which consists of companies, universities, research institutes, and startups in the agrifood sector. Applications for the Seedbed program are possible until 28 February 2024.

“Focused, well-combinable & time-efficient”

Alexander Märdian, head of the Innovation Hub at the DIL German Institute of Food Technology, has been involved in the implementation of EIT Food Seedbed for five years and says:

“For international market validation of deeptech solutions, EIT Food Seedbed is certainly one of the best programs for founders and aspiring entrepreneurs on the market. After completing the program, participants typically know their target groups and markets very well or have adjusted their business model accordingly. The program is focused, can be well combined with participation in other programs, and is time-efficient to implement. Access to European network and consortium partners offers a unique opportunity for international exchange with companies, startups, investors, and research institutions.”
