Awake Mobility has developed a hardware and software solution that uses real-time vehicle data collection to know how a bus is doing and when it’s time for a workshop visit. In this way, the startup wants to significantly increase the reliability, punctuality, and environmental friendliness of buses. Awake Mobility already convinced the High-Tech Gründerfonds, Vireo Ventures, and Synapse Partners from Silicon Valley of its solution last year.
This pre-seed financing is now followed by another capital injection. The Munich startup announces the successful completion of a funding round of 4 million euros. The round is led by B&C Innovation Investments, a company of the Austrian B&C Group. Existing investors High-Tech Gründerfonds and Synapse Partners are also participating. The investor circle is joined by SEK Ventures – the investment firm of Flixbus founders – former CEO of MAN Truck & Bus Joachim Drees, former President/CEO of General Motors Europe and former board member of BMW Carl-Peter Forster, as well as additional business angels.
“Important development and growth phase”
Daniel Tyoschitz, co-founder and CEO of Awake Mobility, explains how his startup plans to use the fresh capital:
“The current capital increase supports us in the technical further development of our hardware and software platform and the associated introduction of new services for our customers. Of course, we also want to drive the further expansion of our company forward quickly. With the B&C Group, we have an experienced partner at our side during this important development and growth phase, from which we will benefit in many areas.”
B&C managing director Thomas Zimpfer says:
“We are convinced that reliability, cost efficiency, and environmental friendliness of bus fleets and public transport are economically and structurally highly relevant for Europe. With our investment, we want to accelerate the digitalization of the bus industry and public transport, which is only just beginning. The Awake Mobility technology and the strong founding team are intended to be a key driver of this positive change in the industry.”
The Munich startup was founded in October 2020 by Daniel Sattel, Houssem Braham, and Daniel Tyoschitz. Since then, the company has won several renowned bus companies and fleets in three European countries as customers, including Autobus Oberbayern and VAG Nürnberg.
