Blickfeld is known for its LiDAR sensors and perception software. These generate precise three-dimensional information about the shape and surface properties of surrounding objects, enabling a wide range of applications. The technology is already being used for privacy-compliant tracking of vehicle and pedestrian flows on retail floors and in public spaces. It also supports optimization of traffic flow, urban planning, and reduction of false alarms in building and security systems.
As Blickfeld and Senstar recently announced, they have been working together since the beginning of the year. The partnership focuses on several projects for securing critical infrastructure, including airport security. For this purpose, the Munich-based company is enhancing the Senstar portfolio with the 3D LiDAR “Blickfeld QbProtect”. The sensor monitors security zones, such as fence and security area protection, using laser and semiconductor technology. It generates precise 3D data, analyzes it directly on the device, and transmits results without delay via standard interfaces to the security system.
Perimeter security thanks to Blickfeld technology
Andreas Bollu, Head of Security Solutions at Blickfeld, says:
“We’re already seeing in our ongoing projects that the Blickfeld QbProtect delivers significant added value in protecting fences and open areas. I’m particularly pleased that our 3D LiDAR solution tailored for perimeter security, the Blickfeld QbProtect, will now be used as a standard component for Senstar customers.”
Michael Rumpf, VP Sales EMEA and Managing Director of Senstar GmbH, emphasizes:
“A key foundation for the highly reliable perimeter protection we provide to our customers is the intelligently coordinated deployment of different sensor types with complementary individual strengths. We’re excited to add the Blickfeld QbProtect, an outstanding innovation, to our portfolio: Its 3D LiDAR technology enables unprecedented accuracy and reliability in detecting intruders. We’re convinced this creates significant added value in protecting facilities with the highest security requirements, and we look forward to many exciting joint projects with Blickfeld.”
At the end of last year, Blickfeld secured growth financing of 7.5 million euros. The round was led by private equity firm New Future Capital (NFC) and UVC Partners. Existing investors Bayern Kapital, Continental, Fluxunit – ams Osram Ventures, High-Tech Gründerfonds, and Tengelmann Ventures also participated. According to Munich Startup Insights, the Munich-based LiDAR company has secured over 46 million euros in funding since its founding.
