Cosinuss is cooperating with Aicher Ambulanz Union at this year’s Oktoberfest. The startup equips all stretchers as well as the stationary areas with its technology – consisting of an in-ear sensor and the Cosinuss Health App. In this way, the paramedics can continuously monitor patients both during transport in the ambulance vehicles and in the treatment area of the medical station.
The C-med-Alpha is a small, 6.5 g in-ear wearable sensor that continuously measures core body temperature, blood oxygen saturation, perfusion, and heart rate. The Cosinuss Health App captures these vital parameters and displays them clearly. The ear canal offers decisive advantages over other measurement sites for optical measurements thanks to its location, constant blood flow, and positioning. Additionally, the proximity to the brain may be relevant for interpreting the measured values.
In recent years, Cosinuss’s in-ear sensors have been used in various pilot projects. For example, COVID-19 and oncology patients were monitored remotely. Accompanying studies noted in particular the reliability and accuracy of the measurements, the small and lightweight design of the sensor, and its easy handling.
Scientific support for the project is also provided at Oktoberfest. The Institute for Emergency Medicine and Medical Management at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich is conducting a study on the use of the technology provided by Cosinuss during Wiesn.
