Since 2020, Heytimi offered online tutoring. Students could choose from numerous tutors and tutoring teachers in a wide variety of subjects through the platform. In 2022, the three founders Ben Dietrich, David Kanis, and Martin Schneid convinced investors APX and Companisto to invest a total of 1.2 million euros in their startup. In December 2023, Heytimi then slid into insolvency.

As the Munich company has now announced, it was taken over by Berlin-based edtech Cleverly as early as December 22. Cleverly also offers online tutoring, but additionally offers mentoring programs in areas such as self-confidence, self-organization, and social competence. In addition to the brand and customers, Cleverly also secured some of the Munich company’s employees and tutors. While the brand initially remains as “Heytimi by Cleverly,” the offering is now that of the Berlin company. Via LinkedIn, the Munich team shares:

“We are closing the Heytimi platform today. We are proud of the shared journey we were able to experience with the children, parents, and tutors over the last few years, and we thank you for the trust and support. Every journey leads to new horizons. We invite all Heytimi families and tutors to continue their educational journey with Cleverly.de – Mentoring for Kids. There you will find many familiar faces and can continue your learning journey seamlessly.”

Cleverly was founded in 2020, just like Heytimi, but was able to raise significantly more capital with a total financing amount of around 8.6 million euros. Behind the startup are investors such as Rubio Impact Ventures, Emma Ventures, Capnamic, Florian Langenscheidt, Verena Pausder, Lea-Sophie Cramer, and the Flixbus founders.
