Drone robotics company Quantum Systems is on a successful trajectory. Since the start of the Ukraine war, the company has been selling its modular drones in a military context – and extremely successfully. Just a few months ago, the startup expanded its Series B to a full 100 million euros. Now Quantum Systems is investing money in another Munich startup. EFT Mobility is receiving a financial boost for its propulsion systems.

The associated press release mentions a “significant amount” flowing into EFT Mobility’s account. The exact figure is not known. What is clear is that Quantum Systems is acquiring a majority stake in the propulsion developer with its investment.

EFT Mobility focuses on the development of advanced electric propulsion systems for various industries, including aviation and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles). The startup specializes in both electric and hybrid-electric systems and offers flexible solutions for sustainable transport. Now the company is to develop and build the entire family of batteries and charging solutions for all UAV platforms from Quantum Systems.

EFT Mobility reaches next level of product maturity

At the same time, Quantum Systems’s investment forms the foundation for the next level of product maturity for EFT Mobility. With confirmed production volumes, the propulsion manufacturer can expand its qualifications and industrialization capabilities to meet these requirements. This should result in high-performance batteries, chargers, and power distribution systems that comply with all applicable regulations and can be manufactured at scale. These products will continue to be available to all current and future customers of EFT Mobility.

For Quantum Systems, collaboration with EFT Mobility means strengthening its supply chain for its system family. A reliable, China-independent supply chain reduces the risks associated with global procurement. The approach of developing and manufacturing all components in-house not only provides greater flexibility and interoperability, but also better control over production and development processes.

The investment increases efficiency and demonstrates Quantum Systems’s commitment to technological excellence in a growing industry. The aligned visions of both companies make the acquisition an important step toward the hoped-for global leadership in aerial reconnaissance.
