This year’s motto for Energy Start-up Bavaria is: “On the path to climate-neutral Bavaria”. Awards are given to emerging and innovative companies that want to contribute to Bavaria’s sustainable energy future. In addition to prize money, the competition primarily offers the opportunity to make contact with potential partner companies.
All startups with an energy focus can apply for Energy Start-up Bavaria. The organizers of the competition are the Bavarian Ministry of Economics as well as Bayern Innovativ, the Zentrum Digitalisierung.Bayern, Bayernwerk, Baystartup, the Association of Bavarian Energy and Water Utilities, and Austrian energy supplier Verbund.

Bavaria’s Minister of Economics Hubert Aiwanger says:
“Recent developments in Europe show how important it is to move away from fossil fuels quickly. On the path to climate-neutral Bavaria, we therefore need to shift into a higher gear! For this, we also need new business models and technologies from startups. That’s why I’m pleased that this year we can help young companies turn their visions of a sustainable energy future into reality.”
Applications are possible online until August 10, 2022. The ten finalists will be announced on September 21. A week later, on September 28, 2022, they will present their ideas in a virtual jury session. The three winners will then be announced on October 10, 2022 as part of an awards ceremony at the Startup Demo Night by Baystartup at Munich’s Tonhalle.
