Energyminer’s pilot plant is located in the Auer Mühlbach at the Kraemer’schen Kunstmühle in Munich. It consists of a micro hydropower plant called “Energyfish” that is almost completely submerged and designed to pose no threat to fish. The hydropower plant uses the river’s flow velocity to drive a rotor that generates electricity. There is no need to dam or alter the river. The river biotope remains intact and the landscape is not affected. The system operates silently and produces electricity in all weather conditions. The Energyfish is designed to operate in schools of up to 100 plants that can supply up to 470 households. According to the company, the system is capable of providing baseload power, unlike wind or solar energy.
Energyminer: “We are proud to create clean and reliable energy”
Energyminer’s solution aims to reduce investment costs compared to comparable kinetic hydropower plants by approximately 88 percent while increasing energy yield at the same time. According to the company, the plants can be approved in just a few months and installed within a few hours.
Energyminer was founded in 2021 by Chantel Niebuhr, Georg Walder, and Richard Eckl. Georg Walder says:
“The Energyfish is a breakthrough in hydropower technology and an important step in making the energy transition a success. We are proud to create a clean and reliable energy source that protects the environment and supplies communities and neighborhoods with energy.”
