Vanagon Ventures announces that the team has invested as lead investor in Exomatter’s pre-seed round. With support from Bayern Kapital, 212 Next, Zaka VC, Bloomhaus Ventures, and four super angel investors from Encourageventures, a total of €1.7 million is flowing into the startup.

Exomatter is setting new standards in materials research through the use of artificial intelligence and quantum mechanical modeling. The company enables its customers to discover entirely new materials that are optimized in terms of their properties, costs, and sustainability. At the same time, the technology shortens the materials development process and reduces associated costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Susanne Fromm, who founded Vanagon Ventures together with Sandro Stark and Axel Roitzsch, explains:

“Exomatter addresses one of the greatest challenges of our time: the search for new, more sustainable materials. With its AI-powered platform, the company offers a solution that enables materials to be found in a targeted way for specific applications in record time while simultaneously minimizing the ecological footprint. This technology not only helps companies increase their innovation capability but also prepares them for upcoming regulatory requirements, such as the EU ecodesign directive.”

Exomatter is already working successfully with several DAX companies such as Airbus and Infineon as well as other market leaders. The company is already recording revenues in the six-figure range and is on a growth trajectory.

Exomatter founder Barbara Bachus comments on the completed funding round:

“We are very pleased that we were able to complete the funding round so successfully after close and trusting collaboration with our lead investor Vanagon. With the support of our investors, we will continue to automate and scale the Exomatter platform and conduct a follow-on funding round next year, for which we are already in discussions.”
