On November 20, 2025, the Bavaria Export Prize will be awarded again in Munich. For the 18th time, the Bavarian State Ministry for Economics, Regional Development and Energy, the Bavarian Industry and Commerce Association, the Association of Bavarian Chambers of Crafts, and Bayern International companies that have impressed with their international success are being honored.
The award is explicitly aimed at small and medium-sized companies based in Bavaria with a maximum of 100 full-time employees (excluding apprentices). Evaluation is based not only on economic success in foreign markets, but also on the personal suitability of the management.
Five categories, one stage
The prize is awarded in five categories: industry, retail, crafts, services, and culinary heritage. Each category represents its own economic sector, with its specific characteristics considered in the evaluation. Winning companies receive a custom-crafted trophy by a Bavarian artisan, an official certificate, and an exclusive digital winner’s seal. Additionally, a short film of approximately two minutes is produced for each awarded company, which will be shown at the award ceremony and made available to the company for its own marketing purposes.
Strong platform for the mid-market
An independent jury decides on the award winners. The prize stands out because it specifically promotes the mid-market sector – regardless of whether it is a traditional industrial company, specialized craft business, or creative service provider. Actors in the “culinary heritage” sector – including innovative food concepts or regional design ideas – also receive a platform.
Applying for the Bavaria Export Prize is an opportunity for Bavarian companies to present their internationalization strategy with public visibility. The short film and golden seal provide additional tools for self-marketing.
The startup scene benefits in particular: many young companies from the state capital are aiming for international markets early on. An award at the Bavaria Export Prize can thus not only be a confirmation of work done so far, but also open new doors – for example to investors, strategic partners, or international customers.
