The LabCampus, located on the western edge of Munich Airport, is increasingly developing into a central innovation hub for Munich’s startup community and other future-oriented actors. The first quarter now in focus, also known as the “Pioneer Quarter”, marks the beginning of campus development with identity-building significance.
Plans for the Pioneer Quarter include a total of six new buildings, numbered from LAB 47 to LAB 60. They will create a clear architectural identity while remaining flexible in their use – from multi-tenant office spaces to individually designed headquarters. At the center of the quarter will be Pioneer Square, a spacious public plaza that serves as a connecting element. Additionally, a linking pathway network is planned that connects the buildings and enhances the quality of the space.
Target groups, use, and development perspective
The quarter is specifically designed for future-oriented companies and research institutions. In addition to showrooms, event spaces, and gastronomy facilities, there will also be spaces for research, prototyping, and community areas.
With the nearly complete occupancy of existing buildings LAB 48 and LAB 52, as well as the forthcoming occupancy by Technische Universität München (TUM), the site is already gaining vitality. The TUM move-in is scheduled for early 2026 and will further strengthen the campus profile.
With its development, LabCampus also contributes to Munich’s innovation strategy “Innovation Agenda 2030”. With this agenda, the state capital aims to establish Munich as a leading European location for AI, cleantech, and scalable innovations.
