Since December 2025, Vladislav Šulja has been leading the Munich startup Flyla. The booking platform for youth and student flights is thus entering a new growth phase. Previously, the company had been successfully sold. The original founding team, consisting of Ben Shaw, Frederic Lapatschek and Fabian Höhne, is handing over operational management but remains closely involved in the platform’s further development.
Flyla was founded in 2017 and has since established itself as a specialized platform in youth and student travel with 75,000 verified users. Over the past two years, the startup has built partnerships with more than 20 airlines, including major European carriers. The platform offers spare seats and special rates for young travelers, combining digitalization with sustainable capacity utilization in air travel.
New CEO with international focus
With Vladislav Šulja at the helm, a new chapter begins for Flyla. The new CEO plans to expand existing services and accelerate the internationalization of the offering. The focus is on further developing the product portfolio and integrating additional features to make affordable flight options more accessible to students worldwide.
Šulja emphasizes:
“Flyla.com is a perfect fit for a long-term strategy. Together, we will work to revolutionize access to travel for students worldwide.”
The founding team looks back on the platform’s development so far with satisfaction. Co-founder Ben Shaw explains:
“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved with Flyla.com. The transition to Vladislav Šulja opens up new possibilities to continue our vision while benefiting from the expertise and resources of a strong partner.”
Growth and continuity in the Munich startup ecosystem
Flyla remains committed to the Munich startup ecosystem and wants to drive the scaling of its platform from there. The planned international expansion is intended to establish Flyla as a leading platform for student travel in the long term.
