In the “Science & Healthcare” category, Forbes honors the two founders Leander Maerkisch (26) and Benedkit Schneider (22). With their startup Floy, they offer radiologists second opinions through an artificial intelligence-based virtual assistant. The software is certified as a medical device in the EU and is currently used by over 90 radiological clinics in Germany, according to Forbes.
27-year-old Moritz Funk is also honored as co-founder of the Wellster Healthtech Group in the “Science & Healthcare” category. The startup operates health portals such as Spring and Mysummer, each targeting men or women and addressing typical health topics. Since its founding in 2019, Wellster has raised 59.5 million euros in funding, most recently expanding its Series B round by 17.5 million euros.
On the 30-under-30 list for “Retail & E-Commerce” is Maximilian Wühr (28), one of the co-founders of Finn. The startup offers its customers flexible car subscriptions that include all ancillary costs such as taxes, insurance, tires, and maintenance. Subscribers only need to cover fuel or electricity costs themselves. Last summer, the startup secured 103 million euros (110 million dollars) in its Series B round.
4 Munich startups in the “Manufacturing & Industry” category
Roman Hölzl (29), co-founder of Robco, enters the “Manufacturing & Industry” category. His startup develops cost-effective robots for small and medium-sized enterprises that can automate repetitive manual tasks such as laser engraving or palletizing. Robco’s investors include Frank Thelen’s investment firm Freigeist Capital; most recently, the startup secured 13 million euros.
Alexander Genzel (24) is also among the 30 under 30 in “Manufacturing & Industry”. The co-founder of Reflex Aerospace develops satellite platforms tailored to his customers’ individual needs. In its seed round, the company based in Berlin and Munich raised seven million euros.
With the goal of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable aviation, Tobias Kahnert (29) co-founded the startup Electric Flytrain. The company develops customized solutions for aircraft manufacturers and its own hybrid propulsion system for unmanned aircraft. For this, he is now being recognized by Forbes with a place among 30 under 30 Europe in the “Manufacturing & Industry” category.
Another entry on the “Manufacturing & Industry” list belongs to Knowron founders Arturo Buitrago Méndez (29) and Ali Kareem Raja (29). The AI startup develops a digital assistant for service technicians that is intended to replace manuals and service reports in the future. The Munich-based founders have already convinced initial investors and raised 1.8 million euros in their seed round.
Technology from Munich among Forbes 30 under 30
The “Technology” category also features startups from Munich. For example, Finway with its co-founders Jennifer Dussileck (28) and Csaba Krümmer (29). The startup offers SMEs a central platform for their financial processes. It aims to enable companies to eliminate time-consuming and error-prone manual tasks and digitalize their accounts payable. In February, Finway announced the completion of its Series A with 9.2 million euros (10 million dollars).
The new startup of Parkhere co-founder Felix Harteneck (29) also makes the list. Inplanet is developing a method for removing CO2 from the atmosphere. To achieve this, the German-Brazilian startup based in Munich relies on a natural process in which rock flour is applied to fields in tropical regions, binding CO2 while also fertilizing the fields. In a pre-seed round, the startup has already raised 1.2 million euros.
