The German Startup Monitor 2026 (DSM) has launched. With this annually conducted study, the Startup Association gathers the assessments of founders in Germany, providing one of the most important data foundations for politics, business, and the startup ecosystem.

Gauging the startup ecosystem’s sentiment in around ten minutes

According to the Startup Association, taking part in the online survey takes about ten minutes. The focus is on questions regarding current challenges and framework conditions for startups in Germany. These include topics such as financing, skilled labor, regulation, and economic development.

With their answers, founders help paint a picture of the German startup landscape that is as representative as possible. The results are intended to serve political decision-makers, media, and other ecosystem stakeholders as a basis for future measures.

Why the German Startup Monitor is relevant

Since its launch, the DSM has established itself as an important industry indicator. The annually published results provide insights into the development of Germany as a startup hub and are regularly drawn upon as a reference for economic and innovation policy decisions.

For the German Startup Monitor 2026, the German Startups Association is once again relying on the broadest possible participation from startups – regardless of industry, company size, or location.

Last year’s German Startup Monitor was also insightful.
