The Munich startups Hat.tec and Project Q have announced a strategic partnership. The goal of the collaboration is to connect the software solutions of both companies. The basis is a Memorandum of Understanding, which is a declaration of intent for the joint development of further technologies.
For Hat.tec, the cooperation is another step in expanding interoperable software solutions for military and security-related applications. The focus is on integrating Hat.tec’s Scale platform and Project Q’s Hydris. Both systems are designed to bring together information from various sensors and technical systems. Through this, the companies aim to simplify and accelerate decision-making processes in military and security-related operations.
The companies specifically mention so-called multi-domain operations. These refer to operations in which information and systems from different areas such as land, air, and sea are used jointly. According to the companies, previously separate systems have often complicated cooperation. Data had to be transferred manually or evaluated in different applications. This could delay decisions.
Joint situational picture from different data sources
Project Q’s Hydris software serves as an integration and orchestration platform. It connects different systems and data sources with each other. The platform is based on open-source technology and can be adapted to existing technical infrastructures.
Hat.tec’s Scale mission management system then processes this information for operational deployments. According to the company, the system supports so-called human-autonomy teaming scenarios. These involve people and automated systems working together, for example in the evaluation of sensor data or the coordination of complex missions.
By connecting both platforms, data can in future be processed continuously from capture to operational use. The companies specifically mention maritime operational environments, i.e., operations at sea.

According to the companies, the new partnership builds on existing joint projects. These have already shown that both systems can work together technically and operationally. In the future, Hat.tec and Project Q also want to develop further integrated solutions for government and defense-related applications.
