Havea is acquiring the startup at an undisclosed price. The French company was founded in 1975 and is based in Boufféré. Havea has five brands in the dietary supplement sector and expects sales of 235 million euros this year. With its new owner, Bears with Benefits aims to enter new markets.
Bears with Benefits: “We want to encourage more women to start businesses”
Laurence Saunier, co-founder of the Munich startup, says:
“Within 4 years, our brand has achieved great success and sustainable growth, which we now want to accelerate further through our partnership with Havea. We remain true to our mission: to make the stressful everyday life of many women a little easier with our healthy and delicious products.”
With this transaction, the all-female founding team is also taking a pioneering role, according to co-founder Marlena Hien:
“We want to encourage more women to start businesses and actively help ensure that they are better recognized and supported in the still male-dominated financial world.”
Havea CEO Nicolas Brodetsky is quoted as saying:
“This young and agile brand, with which we share many values, will strengthen the group with additional digital skills and the experience of a direct-to-consumer model. With this alliance, Bears with Benefits will become our first brand in Germany, having already proven its ability to cross boundaries. Havea will provide the personnel and financial resources needed to realize the European ambitions of Marlena and Laurence.”
