The Innovation Program for Business Models and Pioneer Solutions (IGP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) is launching its seventh funding call. The focus is on jointly developed business models and pioneer solutions created through collaboration between multiple companies. Participation applications can be submitted until August 20, 2026 at 3 p.m.

The current call is particularly aimed at so-called cross-innovations – new services, organizational models, or digital applications that emerge across industries or disciplines. Cooperations between startups and established mid-sized companies, creative industries and industrial companies, or craft businesses and young digital companies are especially sought after. Partnerships from related industries can also apply, provided they create clear innovative added value.

Projects with at least two participating companies are eligible. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), founders, self-employed individuals, and social enterprises can submit applications jointly with research institutions or universities.

Funding opportunity for joint innovations

The IGP supports non-technical innovations, where new technologies may play a role but do not have to. What matters is the novelty of the problem solution and its market potential. Both smaller feasibility projects and larger initiatives with a focus on market maturity are supported.

When making selections, the jury considers, among other things, the degree of innovation, marketing opportunities, social added value, and the quality of collaboration between project partners. Since the current call places cooperation at the center, the program evaluates exceptional interdisciplinary partnerships particularly positively.

Projects that successfully pass the participation competition qualify for jury evaluation. Subsequently, teams can present their ideas in a pitch session expected in January 2027.

All further information on participation, accompanying webinars, and the option to register can be found on the associated website.
