This year, the “MöglichMacher – Bavarian University Prize for Entrepreneurship” was awarded for the second time. Prize money totaling 65,000 euros was at stake. The awards went to individuals and projects that promote entrepreneurship and startup culture at their universities in a special way. A five-member jury consisting of representatives from academia, business, and the startup scene selected from 31 applications from across Bavaria.

For the arts and music academies, the jury divided the prize equally between two applicants this year. In addition to the course format “Rembrandt* as Entrepreneur” from the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, Munich’s Wavelab also received an award. As an innovation lab and startup center for music, arts & media at HMTM Munich, Wavelab has developed since its founding in 2020 into a vibrant platform for students and staff at the university as well as for technology-based startups. The overarching goal is to support students on their entrepreneurial journey in the cultural and creative industries. The MöglichMacher award comes with 7,500 euros in prize money.

“Champions who make a difference: The winners of our Bavarian University Prize for Entrepreneurship mentor, inspire, and empower. The ‘MöglichMacher’ provide free legal advice for entrepreneurs, organize innovation festivals, or create entire ecosystems for the startup scene at their university. That is very much in the spirit of our 100-million-euro Hightech Transfer Bavaria initiative,”

said Bavaria’s science minister Markus Blume.

In addition to the awards for arts academies, there were also honors for universities and colleges. In the university category, the MöglichMacher awards went to the Startup Law Clinic at the University of Passau and the Digital-Tech-Fellows program at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg. The awarded universities include Coburg University of Applied Sciences with its Impact Festival and the Eastern Bavaria Technical University of Regensburg with its Startup Center.
