Since 1997, the Stadtsparkasse München has presented the Gründerpreis to young companies breaking new ground with their business ideas. As in the previous year, there were two award categories in 2026. While the public was able to vote for the winner in the “Startup” category, an expert jury selected the winners in the “Rising Star” category.
On7 Wins the Audience Award
Munich-based startup On7 aims to tackle the shortage of skilled workers in the care sector. To do so, the company connects care facilities with skilled workers and trainees from abroad. On7 supports the entire process, from selecting suitable candidates and handling visas and the recognition of qualifications, to integration in Germany.
In doing so, the startup combines its own language schools abroad with a digital platform that brings together the various steps involved in placing skilled workers.
Maximilian Angerer, Managing Director of On7, is delighted with the award:
“The award gives more visibility to the nursing care crisis and its solutions, demonstrating that fair care migration from Munich can set new standards.”
For the Audience Award, a jury initially selected five finalists from all applications. The public was then able to vote online for their favorite. The category was aimed at companies founded between early 2023 and late 2025.
Two Winners in the “Rising Star” Category
In the second category, Mybacs and Julius Brantner Brothandwerk share first place. Unlike the Audience Award, an expert jury determined the winners here during a pitch. Companies founded between early 2018 and late 2022 were eligible to participate.
Mybacs develops probiotic dietary supplements and focuses on microbiome health. The company aims to raise awareness of the importance of gut health and offer corresponding products.
Founder Carl-Philipp von Polheim explains:
“We are thrilled to receive the Munich Founder Award. It is a fantastic recognition for our entire team and the work of recent years. Thank you to the jury, our partners, and above all to our customers who place this trust in us.”
The second award winner, Julius Brantner Brothandwerk, relies on traditional baking craftsmanship and regional organic ingredients. The organic bakery places particular emphasis on transparent manufacturing processes as well as a conscious use of raw materials and natural resources.
Stefan Hattenkofer, Deputy CEO of Stadtsparkasse München, sees a common thread among the three winners:
“What connects all three winners is caring for people and their well-being, albeit with very different approaches. They had the courage to break new ground and provide entrepreneurial momentum.”
