You’ve surely noticed our new look here at Munich Startup. However, the relaunch is more than just a new design: With Munich Startup 2.0, the platform is evolving from a classic news portal into a personalized entry point for the Munich startup ecosystem. The new platform was presented as part of the Munich Startup Festival.

Instead of exclusively reporting on startup activities, Munich Startup will guide founders, investors, students, and aspiring entrepreneurs through the ecosystem in a targeted manner – including role-based onboarding, an AI-powered Knowledge Hub, and a new login area.

At the heart of the relaunch is a fundamental shift in perspective.

“News portals basically show what has happened in the past,”

said Arno Eggers during the presentation of the new Munich Startup 2.0 platform. That had long fitted Munich Startup’s mission – today, however, the ecosystem needs more than a digital shop window.

“When you start a business today, you basically don’t need a shop window anymore, but orientation,”

says Eggers. The goal is not only to inform users about developments in the startup ecosystem, but also to make getting started in the Munich startup scene as easy as possible. To this end, Munich Startup will focus on significantly greater content personalization in the future.

Personalized entry point for different target groups

In the future, users will be able to indicate which role they play in the startup ecosystem right from their first visit – for instance as a startup, investor, explorer, or student. Based on this, relevant content, offers, and information will be displayed with priority.

The new login area serves as the technical foundation for further personalization features. In the long term, users will receive individually tailored content – right down to personalized newsletters based on their interests and user behavior.

“We want to turn our readers into users,”

explained Eggers. He noted that the relaunch was deliberately started as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and will be continuously developed based on user feedback.

Knowledge Hub consolidates knowledge from around 7,000 articles

A central innovation of Munich Startup 2.0 is the Knowledge Hub. There, the platform combines editorial content with contributions from experts and knowledge partners from the Munich startup ecosystem.

The offering is complemented by an AI-powered chatbot based on around 7,000 articles published to date. Users can ask individual questions there – for example about getting started in the Munich startup ecosystem or specific founding topics – and receive matching answers from the knowledge database.

If the chatbot cannot answer a question, it is forwarded to the Munich Startup team. At the same time, these queries feed into the further development of the service and help the editorial team develop new content tailored to the actual information needs of the community.

New corporate design with a connection to Munich

With the relaunch, Munich Startup is also getting a new look. The new logo uses the Mittlerer Ring as a central design element, replacing the previous map pin.

The decision was made intentionally, explained designer Thomas Wiedemann. On the one hand, the ring represents networking and cohesion within the ecosystem, but on the other, it stands for the dynamism and friction that entrepreneurship brings with it. At the same time, the brand identity of Munich Startup and the Munich Startup Festival have been brought closer together. The goal is a consistent brand presence across the platform and events.

Quality remains a central unique selling point

Despite AI integration, editorial standards remain a central element of the platform. The Knowledge Hub is based on editorially curated content as well as contributions from experts in the Munich startup ecosystem.

“Especially in times of ChatGPT and the like, it is very easy to publish just anything on any topic,”

said Eggers. Munich Startup wants to continue to differentiate itself through editorial quality, transparent sources, and a clear focus on Munich as a hub.
