With “Solve for Tomorrow”, Samsung wants to support young people aged 16 to 25 who have an idea for how AI can create social value. The program guides participants in realizing their projects by providing relevant skills and access to mentors. This year’s focus is on how artificial intelligence can meaningfully support the founding process.
Design thinking workshops for perfect preparation
The application phase for Solve for Tomorrow runs until June 16, 2024. During this period, Samsung, together with project partner Ekipa, an innovation incubator at the intersection of science and business, offers design thinking workshops at universities across Germany to make it easier to get started on the topic. Participants will learn where in the founding process they can meaningfully integrate AI: Which tools are suitable in the ideation process to support research and enrich market analyses? How can they use AI to sharpen their pitch? Where are the limits of AI, and what ethical questions arise from its use?
From 10 to 5
From all submitted ideas, nine teams qualify to participate in an ideas camp in the summer. One additional team has the opportunity to secure a wildcard spot through social media voting by getting their community excited about their idea. Then the 10 teams experience two days of intensive workshops and coaching to help them turn their ideas into sustainable business models. Five teams will continue their journey after a pitch in front of an expert jury.
Grand finale at IFA Berlin
After two months of development, they are ready for the big stage at IFA in Berlin: The pitch finale will determine which three ideas are accepted into the impact phase of the Solve for Tomorrow program. The three winning teams will be supported very individually by experts from Impact Hub Berlin and Samsung mentors over the next six months, with the goal of accompanying them in implementing a pilot project, searching for strategic partners, or directly in founding their companies. In addition, they will receive dedicated prize money of up to €10,000 and technical equipment with Samsung devices for further work on their ideas.
