As part of this partnership, BPI will become part of the Xpreneurs incubation program. Xpreneurs offers support for high-tech startups in their early stages. The program lasts three months and guides founders on their path to market entry. The Xpreneurs program ranges from validating the business model to securing financing to acquiring first customers. The program, which has existed for five years, has already supported startups such as Air Up, Isar Aerospace, and Twaice.
The internationally operating investment arm of Burda with a focus on consumer-oriented digital and technology companies wants to offer workshops on “Environmental Social Governance – ESG” as part of the Xpreneurs incubation program. BPI also wants to provide founders with early contact to venture capital and network them with its portfolio companies.
“Turning visions into reality”
Martin Weiss, CEO of Hubert Burda Media, is confident:
“The partnership with UnternehmerTUM is a great opportunity for us to drive innovation together with the local startup ecosystem. Entrepreneurial spirit, with the drive to create innovation and develop it together, is a core value of Burda, which is why we want to work together with one of Europe’s leading startup centers to better support founders and give them the opportunity to turn their visions into reality.”
Christian Teichmann, CEO at BPI, adds:
“As a growth capital provider, we work closely with our portfolio companies and exchange with various stakeholders. Through the partnership with UnternehmerTUM, we are getting even closer to the local startup market and can support founders in an early stage with our expertise and network. We look forward to exchanging with startups and bringing them together with our portfolio companies. We are convinced that we will all benefit from the collaboration.”
“Leveraging our strengths even better”
And Helmut Schönenberger, CEO of UnternehmerTUM, comments on the deepened partnership:
“We are united by the idea of connecting science and entrepreneurship to create innovations for a sustainable future. With its media business, investment activities, and communication platforms, Burda and BPI already have a strong stake in the Munich startup ecosystem. The new partnership enables us to leverage our strengths even better and support the next generation of successful European entrepreneurs.”
