Today was finally the day: I moved into Werk1 and will spend the next few days in the midst of everyday coliving life between coworking desks and the kitchen table. Following the announcement of my little coliving experiment, things are getting real now: For the coming week, Werk1 is not just a workspace and startup hotspot, but also my home.
I am welcomed by Minette from the coliving team, who greets me warmly from the very first moment. She takes the time to show me around my apartment for the next few days. Even during the tour, it becomes clear: they haven’t just thought of the practical details here, but also about making you feel welcome right from day one.
First steps through Werk1
After moving in, it’s time to unpack. Once the suitcases are stowed away, I take the opportunity to wander through the building a bit and explore my new surroundings. I’m immediately drawn to the community area in particular. It quickly becomes apparent here that community interaction and exchange are intentionally factored into the coliving concept, and that living and working aren’t meant to simply exist side by side.
What that actually feels like in day-to-day life is something I’ll experience in the days ahead. For now, it’s still my first day, and instead of diving straight into a packed schedule, I’m taking things easy to start with.

First, settling in
After moving in, unpacking, and an initial tour of exploration, it’s time for me to settle in, enjoy the view of the Werksviertel, and take in the first evening. The view from up here is really beautiful and, for me, a pretty great way to start the week.
I’ve already shared a few initial impressions with you on Instagram. In a short room tour, I show you my apartment and also take a look at the community area. Feel free to check it out if you’re curious about what my temporary home looks like.
Tomorrow, things will really kick off. I’m excited to see who I’ll meet over the next few days, how daily coliving life unfolds, and what stories emerge from the encounters at Werk1.
